22,000 POUND (10 METRIC TON) CAPACITY SYNTHETIC CHAIN

22,000 POUND (10 METRIC TON) CAPACITY SYNTHETIC CHAIN

Synthetic chains are eight times stronger and up to 85% lighter than comparable steel link chain alternatives.

Note: Breaking strength is 44,000 Pounds (20 metric tons).

Made of HMPE which is a high modules polyethylene fiber that consists of a highly crystalline, highly stretched UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene).  With a density of 0.97 g/cm^3, HMPE is lighter than water and floats. The fiber has a high strength as well as a high modulus of elasticity and is highly resistant to abrasion, fatigue, moisture, UV radiation and chemicals.

  • Easier handling and positioning saves time and money.
  • Easy to shorten and less likely to damage components.
  • Less noisy means faster work with better communication
  • Tested for more than 20,000 cycles at rated load

There are many advantages to synthetic chain:

  • Cables have fixed lengths established with lanyard loops at the ends. This results in loss of usable cylinder stroke due to extra cable length.
  • Cables often develop broken wires from bending, folding and just general use. These broken wires can poke or cut technician hands, which is a health & safety issue.
  • Steel chains are heavy are require considerable more “snug load” prior to initiating a test sequence. This can have negative effects on test data.
  • Steel chains require more technician strength to rig up due to their weight.

Safety Notes:

  • The hook may not be hooked in between the plies
  • Twisted chains may not be loaded and must be untwisted before use
  • Damaged textile chains may not be used; do not attempt to repair them
  • The temperature range of -40C to 70C must be adhered to
  • Cleaning of the straps is to be done with clear water and NO chemical additives, and then air dried (do not use heated drying systems)

Use minimum .625” diameter pins to join to these chain links
